I know, I thought it was a joke too, (even though I really like my 270 WSM. )

Spomer wrote this but it’s actually about the new 270s. Think 80,000 psi and 3,000 fps from a 16” barrel.

Shot that rifle at the range. It's not hitting 3000

Yeah, they claim 3000 fps with a 16 inch barrel. It’s a ballistic turd. You have the best of the .277 already. Haha

What gives, do you suppose? Just inflated numbers and a big scoop of optimism? Slow barrel? Lawyer approved charge?

I'd think that their ammo in their rifle would get a little closer to their claim...

From the limited reading regarding the new round I can see it beating the wsm at any barrel length. @Ryan Avery I'm assuming the stainless case heads wouldn't show much chamber pressure? This makes me want to cut down my wsm to prove a point...

Maybe, but people are shooting 2900 FPS with a 6.5 PRC with a 20 inch barrel and 156s Berger’s and it’s not proprietary nor do I have to run 80,000 psi to do it. With the right powder a WSM is going to crush a 6.5 PRC at almost any barrel length. I would guess a WSM would do better than hold its own against the Fury. Sig should have picked a .264 or .284 for the fury case. It would beat up on a 6.5 CM.

But after saying all that at least Sig is out there trying to make improvements.

No idea. Was going to ask @Jordan Budd for her velocity’s.

I thought I read Sig made the round for the military, the article I saw mentioned they pitched it to the military for a new machine gun.

Interesting, that would make sense.

I thought it seemed a little suspicious rite off the bat noticing they bought out several big name YouTube channels. Seems to me if you have a good product it will speak for itself.

And have you seen the video on the new Sig 338 Machine Gun. Omg good thing I'm to old to resign w uncle sam.

Here’s some excerpts from the article; last one is about the machine gun roots:

And in reference to that first excerpt, 3250 is about what I’m getting out of my 270 WSM with 140 grain burgers. At least that much.
