Like many I've been trying to work on trigger panic. I could always shoot well, but still struggled with shooting spots.

This spring I decided to give a back tension (hinge) release a try. After a few months I can now see why target archers favor these releases. My shooting has improved however I am hesitant to use the release for hunting. I actually was watching The Pig Man and saw he had an interesting release on, which led me to the Ringer Release by No Limits Archery. After a little research I decided to give one a try.

After shooting the release for a while I think it is going to be a nice intermediate between the hinge and a traditional trigger release. The wrist strap will keep it handy and I don't have to worry about any misfires while drawing the bow. This was a concern of mine with the hinge...you know elk fever! Now that I've been shooting a handheld release I really like that hand position better then the palm down position. With the ring finger being the "trigger" finger it's my opinion that my brain has less fine motor control over the motion and I can execute a better squeezing motion. I know there are plenty of guys who say they can execute a back tension shot with their trigger release, but I can't seem to do it. I just pull on the wrist strap...

I am still in the process of practicing to use the same back tension motion I did with the hinge, which I think will only help improve my shot. Just another option for those of you looking for another release to try.

The ringer is a really good release, if I didn't hunt with a hinge I would probably use that.
