Rifle Accuracy Guarantee Worth Its Salt?

So there are all kinds of companies out there with various accuracy guarantees. What are your thoughts on them? Are they worth anything more than just a bit of advertising? How many load combos do you have to try before you resolve to the gun just won't shoot?

I would imagine getting a company to agree that the firearm doesn't meet their accuracy standards would be challenging.

To me any company worth their salt should be able to give you a factory ammo that you can go to that they know will shoot sub moa if they guarantee it.

I think most of the companies that offer that will do what they can to make sure their idea of an MOA guarantee is honored. But because they can provide a target fired from a machine rest in an indoor range doesn’t mean the customer can replicate it every time over the hood of the truck with the old 3-9 Bushnell on top. To me, it’s not worth much.

Two of my rifles with accuracy guarantees came with a test target and load/ammunition information printed right on it. I can easily replicate their results and one of them will do better with a different load.

I have three other rifles with accuracy guarantees that will meet the guarantee, but did not come with a test target or load suggestion. One of those was a fair bit of trial and error to get it there...but it gets there.

I also have a few rifles that don't have a guarantee, some shoot...a couple don't.

I think we're at a golden age when it comes to firearms. Most cheap firearms today will shoot decently. They may not win any competitions, but I see numerous people reporting MOA groups even with Savage Axis/TC/etc.

With that said, it is nice having some sort of guarantee... just knowing that the manufacturer will take care of you if you really have a complete dud.

I agree- especially with some of the newer "semi custom" type stuff that can run in excess of $2k...

I did talk to one of the Weatherby guys a few years back regarding their "Range Certified" rifles... the only difference with one is they actually shoot it and certify it. Non "range certified" guns shoot the same and are built the same.
