Hey guys. Hunting season is over so now I can focus on my rifle loads.
I got my ridgeline fft in 300wm for the last week of season. I could only find 180 grain bullets for sale.
I was thinking I’d find 165.
Now that I have time I can reload 165, but before I do, is the 180 going to be more stable, and is it stable enough for me to notice 3-400 yards and in.
I don’t believe there’s a large distance or trajectory delta. Does anyone know if that barrel likes a heavier or lighter bullet, generally? Any 165 or 180 grain bullets recommended for white tail as far as accuracy and damage

I have this exact gun but reload. Mine loves 200 gr eld-x. Very accurate and actually pleasant to shoot with a suppressor on it.

I’ve got the suppressor, but I’m not sure if I’ll use it. Makes for a long friggjn rig to hunt treestands

How do you find that for whitetail. I use my 300 on elk and couldn’t imagine the damage to a smaller whitetail even with the lower grain

I find when I hunt close stands, 40 yards and under I just bring my 30-30. With the 300 I like that I can reach out to 300 yards w out really changing point of aim. Yes other calibers do that as well. I have 223, 270, 7mm, 308, 338, 30-30s, I wanted something between 270 and 338 in a magnum. only had it for the last 3 days of the season last year and dropped a doe in her tracks at 85 yards. I like the round and it’s my go to rifle/round combo.
