Restore Waterproof Qualities of Tent?

I've got a Seek Outside BT2 (old style Silvertip) that I've got probably 50 nights in is all. Most of the tent is still in really good shape, but the material itself has become sort of porous and not entirely waterproof anymore. I'm planning to cheap out and just re-waterproof it rather than forking out cash for the new shelter I really want.
This is the shelter I use late season or when the weather is terrible, so it's got to be trustworthy. Has anyone done anything more than just a silicone aerosol spray to make a tent waterproof again? Maybe extremely diluted seam sealer or something along those lines?

Wow that is really disheartening. My first SO shelter was a BT2. Being 6'3" and pitching on a slight hill I found my feet outside the tent when I woke haha. I would contact Kevin at SO to discuss. I like their shelters though but I wonder if Kifaru has a better material. I heard it is "impregnated" differently. Ive had their BT2, 6 man and now 8 man Tipi.

The workmanship of the SO is fantastic, no complaints in that regard. But yes, the Kifaru material is much better in every way. I have well over 100 nights in my Paratarp and it looks almost new. If Kifaru had a 1-2 man sized shelter shaped like the Sawtooth, I'd jump all over it. The Silex is that size and shape but I'm leery of the material now.

Send us an email to our info with a photo or two. There was one run of fabric we had a long time ago (when the BT2 was out) that was not up to standards. We stopped using that supplier .

To answer the question though, the silicone waterproofing spray will work but it should not need to be done
