Remington Mountain rifle SS mods

Anyone have any experience customizing a Remington Mountain Rifle SS to turn it into something like a Kimber Adirondack? I have one in 7-08 just sitting in the safe. It has the chunky B&C stock. I have been looking for an Adirondack but they are so hard to find and getting very pricy. Was thinking of a barrel chop, new bolt, and either new tupperware or trying to shave some weight off the stock? Any ideas how to lighten the stock as I do like the texture and feel of it? Or am i just better off selling this and getting a Howa or praying find an Adirondack
