I’m looking at purchasing this gun from a co worker and after inspection I believe the bolt is leaving fairly deep scratches in the casings. I’m very familiar with guns but never had this issue. If anyone is able to send me a pm with some possible help as to what this may be caused from and what it takes to fix I would highly appreciate it.

Can you post a pic of one of the cases?

These are all from simply working the bolt to check functionality of the rifle. Seems a bit more than I’ve ever seen but that’s why I’m here asking

Brass gets scratched. One of those seems a bit much but who’s to say?
Run your finger along all the edges (bolt, feed ramp, mag rails/lips, chamber) to check for a burr. If you find a burr use a fine stone to remove it.

I know my brass gets some marks from use but I’ve never fretted over it. I’m concerned about safety, reliability and accuracy. Scratches & appearance are minor and don’t come up on my radar.

Function test it, shoot it, buy it or don’t, and then drive on.

If it not affecting functionality, accuracy or reliability I would not worry about it. If it is a good shooter, in good condition and priced right go for it.

Chances are there is a rough spot or machining bur on one of the feed rails. Chamber a clean round "in a safe direction" then carefully remove it, the location of the scratch will tell which side to look at. Pull the barreled action out of the stock and clean it up from the bottom side. I've had to do this same thing on a few brand new 700's.

Good idea. If is a newer gun I understand Remington's quality has slipped a bit recently also
