@brockel, This one was bought from Gander Mountain in 2007, stuck a scope on it and zeroed it in a few rounds, then it has sat ever since. I have a fair number of rifles and just never used it. I'm not sure what accuracy it is capable of since I just haven't shot it but a few times and it was long ago. I will have to check on the recoil pad. It may be gummy. That is the only part of the rifle that shows wear, and I think it is from standing on the carpet floor.

I believe this is the Alaskan model, which is the second generation of the Titanium action model 700's from Remington. The first gen is a ADL with a blind box magazine, a 22" barrel, and a less hefty stock. The floor plate and the stock design immediately give this one away as being the second generation, or the Alaskan. Remington will confirm this with the serial number.

I have a nice collection of the 1st gen rifles and one of these Alaskan's in 7mm Rem Mag, which is a really accurate shooter. The recoil pads are notorious for gumming up, due to a mishap by the manufacturer. I would be very surprised if this gun was not very accurate.

Jeff,

The box does say Alaskan model on another part so I think you are dead on. Interesting info on the recoil pad also! Thanks for the extra info!

Try loading a 165 gr. Nosler Accubond or Partition using IMR4350 or H4350 and using about 56-58 grs. which seems to be a sweet spot with those two powders. My own personal 30-06 likes IMR4350 and 57.4 grs. with either of these two bullets. It shoots very well with excellent velocity and I've used it on antelope, deer, black bear, and elk. That's a nice looking rifle I think you will really enjoy. Hard to go wrong with a 30-06!

Nice buy. If I didn't have a Barrett on order I would have jumped on this one.

The recoil pad was made by Limbsaver and they made a big batch of bad ones. Call them about getting a possible
replacement pad that does not gum up in the gun safe.
