I had posted this up a while ago and then got really busy with work, so it fell by the wayside. Putting it back up in the even someone is looking for a new hunting rifle for this fall.

Up for sale is my 260 Remington Remage barreled action w/bottom metal. The reason I am selling is that after I built it, I stumbled on a killer deal for a used Tikka T3x Lite SS chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor at my local Cabelas/BPS. I bought it to be a donor, but I made the mistake of shooting it. A few mods and a new stock later, and I end up grabbing that gun more often when I want to hunt or bang steel. This one just sits in my safe.

This one started life as a Walmart special ADL with a 243 barrel. I took it all apart, and sent the receiver and bolt to LongRifles, Inc (LRI) to have them do their Tier 2 blueprinting which keeps the OEM threads and includes the following:

  • Single Stroke Diamond Honed ID receiver bore
  • Reconditioned Receiver Lug Abutments
  • Bolt nose resurfaced
  • Bolt face resurfaced
  • Bolt Lugs resurfaced
I also had them add a side bolt release, add a pinned LRI factory profile CM recoil lug, flute the bolt and cerakote the receiver and bolt body/shroud to match the matte SS of the barrel. I am not exactly sure what the cerakote color is, but it does match the bead blast matte SS of the barrel perfectly. Total cost of that work was $540.

The barrel is a McGowan 20” #3 contour SS barrel with 6 straight flutes, with an 11-degree crown, threaded 5/8-24, and bead blasted matte. The invoice for the barrel is shown below. It has 391 documented rounds down it. The barrel nut is a Patriot Valley Arms barrel nut with the nitride finish.

To round out the build, I added a SS BDL bottom metal that I think is either a Redhawk Rifles, or Hawkins, however all they are showing now is Aluminum ones. This one is SS as you can see from the S stamped on it and the fact that it is magnetic, which aluminum isn’t. The guts of the mag are the Wyatt’s RSA kit which includes a SS factory-length box (2.860” internal length), a machined follower, and spring. Action screws are RedHawk SS hex head screws.

The trigger is a Trigger Tech Primary.

It will come with a set of Hornady new dimension dies and 97 pieces of Starline brass that have been fired in this rifle 3 times, the brass will come tumbled and annealed (using my Ugly Annealer). It will also come with the EGW 0MOA rail and a Downrange Products thread protector that are on it. Total weight as pictured is 5 pounds 2.5 ounces.

I have included a bunch of pictures below, however I encourage a potential buyer to reach out via PM where we can swap phone numbers and have a video or Teams call so that I can answer any additional questions and give you real-time pictures.

Price is $1000, shipped to your FFL (must accept from an individual).
If you would like me to split it up, I will. I will do $650, shipped for the action, trigger, and bottom metal. $425 for the barrel, nut, brass, and dies.

Here is a pic of a 10-round group fired with this gun. The shot to the far right was definitely me, but this shows the potential of the rifle. The orange is 1.5" in diameter. This was shooting one of the first loads that I threw together for the rifle using 139 grain Scenars. I will share my load information with the buyer if they want it.
