Reloading equipment

Help me put together a reloading setup please. I live in a townhouse and don't have a ton of space and want to get into reloading for when I get my rifle. Nothing crazy just the basics to get me going.

Rcbs Rockchucker kit with a Frankford Arsenal lite tumbler so you don't have to worry about making noise cleaning your brass. Learn the basics then figure out which way you want to go. Some like precision, some volume, what you want and what you learn will help direct your growth.

Sure, most people move past that set up. Sounds like you're limited in space, when I was young and lived in a townhouse, I kept it small and simple. Now that I have my own home with my own space, I have multiple of everything, including my very first Lee hand press that I started loading 7mm RM on.

If you were to start reloading again today, where would you spend or save money?

I'm sure this subject has been beat down over and over but I want some opinions considering what tools are in the market now. I'm a complete newb to reloading so I'm trying to learn where I can before I make the investment. I have enough brass collected that I want to start considering the process. I'd be loading 3-4 short action cartridges, and 9mm to start with. From the research I've done I understand that a single stage press and hand-primer would be best to start until I have the desire to load hundreds...

I’m completely new to reloading and looking for advice on what equipment I should buy to get started.

I want to emphasize that I’m a true beginner and not interested in high-volume production or maximizing efficiency right now I just want a solid, good-value setup that will let me learn the process properly and grow my skills over time.

What would you recommend as a simple, reliable starter setup, and are beginner kits worth it or better to buy pieces individually?

Thread 'Starting Reloading from the Pros'

Wondering about getting into reloading from people who have been doing it for awhile.

With the state of factory ammo (my understanding for popular cartridges is pretty good now), would you still start reloading today?

I am interested in reloading for precision long range hunting. I currently only have two calibers, 300 win mag and 6.5 creedmoor. I don’t really have any current plans for getting into other calibers.

Wife is trying to talk me out of picking up a new hobby.

I like the rcbs stuff. Rock chucker supreme, powder measure and hand trimming tool. For dies I prefer the Hornady match series. Hornady does make some good tools for measuring o-jive, head space and finding your jam measurement. If you’re not loading a ton you don’t need all the powered equipment, but once you have your own system you’ll upgrade what you believe is necessary.

You dont need much. Stupid lil bench screwed to the wall. Press, priming tool, dies, scale. Powder measure is nice depending on the powder.


You can go way more complicated, but to get rolling you really dont need much.
