I have been reloading for 40 years. I have been asked to reload a rifle for a friend. .280 Remington Browning A Bolt Stalker II that has the 22 inch SS OEM barrel shortened to 19 inches. 10 inch twist. The rifle will primarily shoot whitetail deer, and an elk or two. I shoot a 7mm RM and use 160 NABs or elk and 150 NPTs for deer. H4831SC gives me under .50 MOA. I think 140 or 150 grain bullets are more appropriate for this rifle to make up for the short barrel. Being a long time shooter of Nosler Partitions I will likely use NPT's for their lower minimum velocity needed for proper expansion. I have H4831SC on hand and can get more, but think I should go slightly faster with 4350s, VV550, StaBall 6.5, etc. I have LR & MLR primers, dies, correct stud for my Lee case trimmer, shell holders. Midway USA and Graf's are less than a 30 minute drive to get components that my GS does not have. I am out of IMR-4350, but H4350 is available. IMR products are almost non-existent and I prefer Hogdons Extreme series powders for their temperature stability. Most of the slow burners are available but H4831SC is likely the slowest I will use. Any thoughts, help, pet loads are appreciated. The picture is a WT buck I shot on Jan 3, 2026 with an Accura LRX 50 cal muzzleloader. 290gr Barnes copper TMZ. 157 5/8 gross. DRT in the scrape he was working. 20260114_063514.jpg
