Anyone have any success at rehabbing a down bag that was stored compressed for long periods of time... asking for a friend

You could try putting it in a clothes dryer with a clean tennis shoe, and run it at the lowest heat setting possible. I would put the tennis shoe in a sock to protect everything the shoe bounces on. Run it for about 10 minutes, take it out and fluff it, then put it back in for ten more minutes if necessary. Might even put a dryer sheet in too (unless bag care tag says not to). Dryer sheet might take any stale smells out.

I agree with Laelkhunter,...except I wouldn't use the tennis shoe on my good WM down bags. I don't know if it would cause damage, but I think this is a case where you can't be too careful.

If DIY solutions don't work, you can send the bag to a repair outfit like Rainy Pass.

I would start with plenty of vigorous shaking of the bag to see if you can restore loft- I'm assuming it's not lofting fully?

I use tennis balls in the dryer after washing mine. Seems to work.

Thanks fellas. I will try the tennis ball idea and let you know how it works out.
