Ok, I've finally had it, my Bushnell rangefinder simply will not range in light ground fog or light drizzle... even at 30 yds. I am kicking it to the curb and am going to buy a new one. Primary use will be archery, but rifle is possible.

My budget max is $750 (purchase price, not suggested retail), looking for (in no particular order):
1) Lighted display
2) Shot angle correction
3) Reliable functionality in adverse conditions (fog, snow rain)
4) Distance to furthest target (e.g.- ranging an animal through brush)
5) Waterproof (I already had one rangefinder die in heavy rain)
6) Rubberized case (preferred, not mandatory) to minimize noise if my release aid hits it, etc
7) Fantastic optics/ability to use in low light

Who has a rangefinder they are satisfied with? Leica, Leuopold, Vortex, Sig Sauer, Nikon... etc. Or, which don't you like and why not?

What make/model/how much did you pay?

Please chime in with constructive facts, experiences, insights, likes/dislikes. Comments like "love my Vortex..." are not helpful.

Thank you in advance for taking time to share your insight.

Best,

JL

Believe it or not the rangefinder in my bushnell fusion binocular is the best I have found in for haze rain... better than my friends leica handheld or binocular. Not only a little better but they were limited to 50-70 yards and I could go to 200 plus. I would guess the ones with the longest range and smallest cone dispersion/bullseye mode would do the best.

I have tested both my Leica CRF900 and Sig Kilo 2000 in the rain and fog. If I was able to see the object, the RF was able to range the object, which is all I need it to do. Does me no good to range objects I can't see. I prefer the Leica for clarity of display and great clear glass, but mine doesn't have angle comp or an option to set to range last object like the Sig does. I don't think either is waterproof, but I believe both are water resistant. It was tough to see through the Sig this year in the rain.......not clear at all.

Oh, sorry to hear your negative experience. Can you elaborate? I was strongly considering Sig Sauer's Kilo/BDX line

I got a Sig Kilo this year. Wasn't very happy with its performance in the rain or fog.

Sig kilo works great if you put it in the right setting mode. For clear day ranging I put it on "best" target mode. When it is foggy, raining or snowing you change modes into "Last" target mode. Pretty easy concept in that when it is "Best" it will range the rain because it is catching the most of the laser. When in "Last" mode the rangefinder will give you the yardage of the farthest beams of laser that return back to the device.
