I have a Kifaru Xray & want to start loading it for exercise. I don't have a belt for it, yet. Would this pack with the belt be a good choice or would buying a bikini frame & cargo panel be a better choice for comfort of the suspension? I've got to get on the ball & get in shape even though I'm not a back country hunter. All replies are appreciated.

You definitely want a waste belt on your pack. It will take the load off your shoulders, and distribute it to your hips/legs. If I had to pick a frame for training purposes I would look at the Duplex.

Yeah I know at the very least I need a belt. I just wondered if having a frame & cargo hauler would be a better option for comfort.

You won't have any shoulder lift. In other words it will suck as all the weight will be on your shoulders, belt or not.

The real question is how much weight you will be carrying, I'd think 20 or 30 pounds would feel alright with a belt but if you want to train with 50 lbs or more a bigger pack or frame may be nice.

For instance, I don't care for training with heavy weight, though I do once n a while. I do however put 20 lbs of sand in my e&e and walk hills, that pack has no support but it gives me the little weight that I want, and is not overly uncomfortable.

Maybe I should start with something less than half an elk to get into shape. Then after the pounds start falling off & my "shape" gets better, go for the gusto. I'm not a back country hunter by any means, but reading what all of you write about it makes me wish I was. Maybe soon! Just finished up 16.5 years of child support & looking to live a little more versus working.
