For the optics gurus out there. Can someone explain what I could expect in terms of quality/clarity from a pair of Swaro Habicht SLC's? I found a pair of these labelled Habicht SLC WB...judging by the serial # and the "rule of 1930" these were manufactured in 2004 so pre-HD glass but are these highly regarded? Do they compare favorably to modern offerings from Swaro and other manufacturers? Or would $1K be better spent on a mid-tier HD offering?

Thoughts?

You can consistently find used hd models for 1200-1400. I would but one of those over the ones mentioned above.

I had a set of the earlier Habicht SLC's, made in 1994 if I recall. I recently picked up a new Companion CL in the same magnification. I note very little difference in optical quality. If the price is right, you won't be sorry you went with the earlier model.
