I know the Kelty isn’t a premium pack so forgive me for starting a thread about it.
I handled one at Sportsman’s Warehouse the other and the padding felt a little bit off from what I remember on older models. The shoulder straps seem to be made of a fairly thin and dense but also pretty wide single density foam. Not sure how it would handle in the field under a heavy load.
For those of you who have this pack and purchased it more than a couple of years ago - what is the shoulder strap padding like?
I had a Kelty Trekker pack from the mid 00s that had dual density padding in the shoulder straps that performed really well. I’m just curious if this thinner firmer padding is a recent development. And I wonder (if it is recent) if this is a symptom of Kelty cheaping out or if this is a genuine improvement.
