What are some pre season rituals out there? for me mine is easy always watch Jeremiah Johnson before hunting season kicks off, usually in Late August. Not sure why but has just become a part of getting ready for hunting season going to go turn it on right now!

For me, the gear dump and packing is a ritual of sorts. Shooting the bow, the air getting cooler, it's all a seasonal exercise that signals the fun is about to begin.
Absolutely, it was low fifties slipping into the 40’s last night at 9k feet. Starting to feel like September!

Making my list and checking it twice, maybe three times. I hate forgetting anything.

Building an alter and offering sacrifices and doing a happy hunting dance to the deer and elk gods. My neighbors think I’m crazy but I know I’m not cuz my mom had me tested.
Maybe she needs to get her psychology license evaluated.

Too much time on internet forums!

No rituals so to speak, just lots of time at the range.

My preseason ritual is do all I can to find unleaded/sugar free 7MM rem. starts around February. Got lucky this year, only took 5 months to find 2 boxes.

Mine are as follows.

-Start shooting my bow way to late because I'm just too damn busy. Luckily I've been shooting since I was 13 years old and it doesn't take long to get proficient again.

- Re make the same pack list I make every year and tell myself I'm going to save it so I have it for next season and then lose it at some point over the winter. Organize and pack all my gear, wash my sleeping bag.

- Unnecessarily stress and obsess over the upcoming hunts, over think everything to the point of giving myself anxiety. Only to be at total peace and calm when the actual hunt comes.

I’ll wear my boots all day the month before a big trip, sleep on the sleeping pad without the normal bed pillow the week prior, and force myself to eat hunting food for a few days after which it usually gets altered and repacked.

It‘s fun taking brand new backpackers hunting, but good golly they pack too many shoes and clothes - two months before a hunt is spent talking them out of things. 🙂
