I am looking to put together a reasonably priced precision 22 rifle. Not sure but the Ruger precision rimfire (while prices well) does not do it for me. I love the CA Ranger on paper but can’t find one locally to handle. My other option would be a T1X in a KRG Bravo chassis. Budget is ~$800-1000 before glass. Anyone have experience With either platforms? Good bad or indifferent

I’m partial to my T1x, picked it up for a steal with the LW barrel, dropped it in a Boyd’s stock and topped it with a 10x SWFA. Great trainer rifle and very accurate. 0CFE9CA1-7967-4981-937C-A71140F0BB4D.jpeg

I’m also a huge fan of my tikka. I’ve kept it stock because my other guns are tikkas and it’s meant to be a trainer for me. Topped with a a swfa 6x.

haven’t tried premium ammo but I went through 5-6 varieties and it really likes two of them (1/2in 10 shot group at 50 yards). I shoot small steels I have at my range from offhand at 50 out to 180 in all field positions to practice my shooting fundamentals. It’s a blast

I am a huge fan of my T1x. Shoots bug holes... get a suppressor for it, I guarantee you wont regret it
Lol I already have a suppressor in jail.
I'm trying to find a solid 22 to go behind it.

Ammo is the problem.
I have a lot but its just a hodge podge of old stuff.
What ammo are you having success with?

My tikka really likes the aguila ammo. .5" at 50 yds all day. I have an assortment of 22 ammo from the past decade and it will shoot nearly any brand into a 1" hole at 50 yds. The Aguila subsonic stuff lets me shoot in my driveway with it and the suppressor. It is quiet like in the movies.

I also rotate my rig between the KRG stock and factory. If I am out chasing grouse I find that the factory stock is a lot easier to carry around through the woods.

Thanks for the input fellas. Consensus here and amongst others I’ve talked with is all Tikka T1X. Plus with all the available aftermarket support there is lots of options to customize. Thanks!

My best shooting of the “cheap” stuff is federal HV match 40gr

they all shoot minute of squirrel...haven’t tried anything expensive because I have a few bricks of the cheap stuff that works well

I'm a huge Tikka fan as well. Even around quite a few Ruger Precision that have had problem extracting spent casings.

I’ve recently picked up a T1x. I’ve put about 300 rounds through it so far and from what I’ve shot it is showing a preference for CCI target.

Have you guys with them left the extra barrel support thing in or taken it out of yours? I’ve read about a few people who’ve removed them and claim to have improved their groups.

No change for me. I did make sure my action screws were torqued...can’t remember the numbers but it tightened things up slightly

Scored a couple boxes of each of these today.
Not sure if its the correct Aguila.
Man that cci green tag was spendy holy smokes.
It better shoot well.

How hard are the T1x getting to find?
My local shop has one, I can technically afford it but it not what I have my money set aside for rite now.20201226_121014.jpg

Another vote for the T1x. Mine is in a Manners EHT and gets fed RWS subsonic HP. Its easily the most accurate production .22 I have ever messed with.

Are you digging the swfa on there.
I can't really fall in love with it on my 6.5 and it seems like 10x mite be a little high for the tweety plunking I have to do some ones.

We had this one little blue sucker that kept trying to fight his reflection in our bedroom window this spring.

I just don't get the point of doing that in a .22 LR. In a .17 HMR, perhaps. But not a .22 LR.

Point of doing what? Building a cool 22?
I already have an hmr.
22lr is cheap to shoot.
And I'm looking for a quite option to shoot birds outside my bedroom window.
And grouse.

And have you ever shot fur with a 17hmr. Well there isn't much since in keeping it.
Honestly 17hmr isn't all its cracked up to be. Haven't shot mine in years and years. Id sell it if my Dad hadn't of bought it for me.

I like it, but its strictly a plinking rifle. I just wanted something cheap that would track reliably. I agree 10x would be a bit much for pest control.

Another vote for the T1X. I have both .22 and 17Hummer. .22 likes SK Standard + and Rifle Match. accuracy kept getting better box after box. Greasy cases though!

I’ve only tried hornady .17 HMR ammo to date in the Hummer, the barrel isn’t broken in yet.

Are you kidding me? I specifically went out and purchased my .17 HMR because having to shoot copper, the Copper-22's start to fall off rapidly at 80yds, and the place I go to it's at about 80yds where the bunnies would come out and sun themselves. So I made a plan. Part of that plan was getting a .17 HMR since it's dead-on out to approx 125yd.

That next year? My plan executed flawlessly! I had my limit of bunnies by 6:40am! Then went and did a lil predator calling. Called in a grey fox too! But it wasn't season for them yet, so had to pass.

I've had TREMENDOUS fun popping squeeks with my .17 HMR! Furthest to date was 104yds. And that's just off the inexpensive Cabelas Kwik Stix! I freaking LOVE my .17 HMR man! I'm lethal with that thing! It's fun as hell watching rabbits do backflips when you pop'em in the head at 80yds!
