Does anyone know how the speed differs with one kayak paddler between a PR49 and an Alpacka (say a Llama\Unrigged Explorer or equivalent) on flat water/no headwind with weight in the front?

How about the PR49 vs a canoe/Scanoe?

How much faster is each of them?

Just trying to get an idea for planning longer flat-water paddling trips.

I have an Alpacka Unrigged Fjord Explorer and a Denali Llama and they are significantly slower than my canoe. I would think the PR-49 would be faster than the Alpacka as well because of the way you sit in it. Sitting directly on the floor in an Alpacka, your butt is well below the waterline, producing a lot of drag.

Yes - I figured it would be slower. I have a Denali Llama (older, non-big-butt style) and my buddy pulls away from me in an Unrigged Explorer. I have to struggle to keep up and we are equal in fitness, etc. I have a PR49 on order, but am curious of the folks that have traveled together with both types in a group.
