Kind of an oddball question but who on here counts and wraps there own change and takes it into the bank uses it for gear or hunting trips? I know I do in 2012 me and the pops saved are change and counted it and ended up with 300 and something dollars and that was just saving from September to January and from when we got back (definitely helped the pocket on expenses) to this day we've been doing the same for the planned Idaho trip which it's looking like it will cover are fuel there and back!! And if not more just curious if other roksliders due this to help fund new gear, hunting trips etc.. Or am I the only crazy one? Lol

I don't do the pocket change thing but I use a cabelas card for everything that I can and it accumulates quickly.

I have pocket change barrels are work and home. The home barrel is for family vacation and the work barrel goes into my hunting fund. I usually have a little for each barrel every day. I dont wrap it as one of our banks will credit back the service charge for the coin counter in the lobby.

I save all my change for trips/ gas money, except last year. I gave it all (almost $500) to my 15 year old daughter for spending money when she went on an exchange program to Japan.

I do the Cabelas card for EVERYTHING that will take it, some bills won't accept CCs. I pay it off weekly and it adds up fast. Sitting on $418 in Cableas money right now.... :)

i barley ever have cash so i don't end up with much at the end of the year but i do the rewards program on my CC and get some nice gear money from that. used my points from last year to buy a new scope for my rifle this year!

I do same as you, I also have a program with my bank where every debit transaction is rounded up to nearest dollar and that money gets transferred into a separate account.
All big purchases gets put on Sportsmans warehouse cc and paid off at end of month, that equals to 25$ gift cards;)

Most of the time my wallet is empty except for my credit card. We use it for everything so we get the points and points equal cash. I'm waiting for the letter from the credit card company saying they are dropping us because they have been loosing money on us for years because we pay the bill in full every month:D

I bought a scope at cabelas today. It feels great to hear them them go. Well after your point balance was used you owe....... Nothing.

They don't lose money on you. They make ~1 to 3% on every transaction by charging the vendor which is why they can give some back to you.

On the subject of points let me ask this. Let's say I start a Cabelas card for the sole purpose of using it to put in for draws in various states and use Cabelas TAGS program. They will give me points for the purchase of the tags and license. Then when I don't draw and the State refunds the money does Cabelas take the points back?

I don't know. Probably a question for TAGS. In my case I use cabelas card to apply for wyoming tags. If I don't draw wyoming sends me a check. In that case cabelas does not receive money back and state does not issue refund through card. Does TAGS put a hold or actually collect a payment at time of application?

You know what? TAGS fronts the money, I forgot and was getting it mixed up with Huntin Fool

Even if it wasn't TAGS, if you're applying and get a refund, they take your points back. I don't use a Cabelas card anymore, but my father does and I know he has to be careful every spring about spending Cabelas money that'll likely be taken back.

I do the pocket change thing, but I so rarely use cash anymore that it takes years to add up to anything substantial. Last time I took it in was 3 years ago, and I might have $100 built up.
