Afternoon,
I'm a know-nothing, wannabe hunter. I "grew up" with a mentor who was happy to spend a fair bit of time in the Bradshaw Mtns teaching me shooting, rucking, and off-roading; never got into hunting.
One of the guys in our group, whom later became very proficient and involved with rifle elk and deer, invited me on a hunt in Western CO for 3rd Rifle 2017. I was afforded the chance to help clean and process a kill with one of the members of hunt camp (god bless his soul. I'm sure I ruined more meat than was worth teaching me). My friend had a bow in camp, and I decided that's what I wanted to do. Came back, bought a bow that week and have been shooting 4-6 days a week (approx 200-300 arrows). I have been up solo in Unit 21 and/or 19A every weekend of Non-Permit Tag (OTC) Archery-Only Deer so far (my younger brother joined my last weekend)
The hunting style that interests me most is backcountry/backpack hunting.
What I am interested in getting from this forum
-Scouting/tracking tips
-training tips
-hunting areas/general knowledge (if willingly offered. I understand this is usually well-guarded info)
-possible hunting partners
-gear reviews/info
What I hope to contribute
-A willingness to learn
-Lessons I've learned to assist other new members to streamline their introduction to the sport
-Gear reviews of products I've used
