Packer/ meat processing

Anyone know of a packing service near the Flat Tops that could bring equipment in on horses or more importantly bring an elk out? Also looking for a meat processing location near there as well. Thanks

Last year I went on a guided hunt with family and Tel Gates was our guide (River's Bend Outfitting | Hunting and Camping Guides | Colorado's Premier Outfitting for Elk, Deer, Bear, Moose). I know he does drop hunts at established campsites and he might be able to take you up and drop you off somewhere or know someone that does.

As for processors, we used H&H Processing there in Meeker and everyone was happy with the results. They've got a variety of options for you and if you've got time they'll flash freeze everything solid for you, which makes transport a lot easier. Colorado Elk Hunting

Lone Tom is another outfitter in the area I spoke with him last year about packin elk out and he said he could do it if he wasn’t busy at the time I needed him and that was pretty much everyone else’s response when I contacted them all very nice people but there so busy that time of year it’s really hard to get one up there to help you and you have to know which outfitters are permitted in the area you’re hunting they all can’t just go into the mountains and get animals out there is a coupe that are permitted to pack out a large area of the wilderness it just all depands on where your hunting... which season are you planning on going? Most of them shut down after second season because of the snow... feel freer lagoon me a pm and I can try to help you out or you can call the forestry office in meeker and they can tell you exactly who is permitted to pack in the area you are planning on going into.
