I have a duplex frame with an amr bag. Pack seemed ok to me until I put about 60 pounds in it. I have a lot of space between the shoulder straps and my shoulders. After a 4 mile hike the muscles on the side of my hips were really sore. Also the bottom of the bag hits my butt and I can't seem to stand up straight. Is that normal? Should I shorten the frame up? I have no idea how these should fit, this is my first big pack.

Youtube Kifaru channel and call Aaron. He will help you. I would be curious what he tell you about the sore hips - interested in what causes that ...

Don't waist time or increase your frustration. Call Aron. He's helped me tremendously over the phone with fit issues when I received my first Kifaru frame & pack.

I agree call Aron... That said when I got my first kifaru pack my hips were sore until I got use to carrying the weight on my hips, always had packs that used my shoulders to carry the load. Once I got some miles
Under it it felt great but I'd still call to make sure your fit is right!

Talked to Aron on the phone. He said it sounds like my back is curved more than normal. Lucky I have the aluminum stays. He told me to bend them more and play around with it until if fits my back better and feels better. The rest of my pack is adjusted correctly. The sore hips are just me being a sissy :) Not used to carrying the weight on my hips, should get better. So I'll play with the stays and see how the next few hikes go with 60 lbs.
