I see a TON of kifaru packs in the classifieds, just wondering if they’re so great why is everyone selling them? I ran an exo3500 this year and didn’t like it, sold it and now I’ve got a SG r3 5900. Was wanting an xcurve but this was a good deal

My guess is you see a lot being sold because they are one of if not the most used packs by Rokslide users. Also, people are always tweaking their setups and going with different bags, but that doesn’t mean they’re moving away from Kifaru. I don’t see a lot of people selling their frames, it’s a lot of bag only. Also, the bags hold their value on the used market and they’re valuable, so if one needs cash there’s not much to lose selling a Kifaru bag they’re done with for the season.

You hit the nail on the head. Speaking of that, anyone want to buy a nomad 2 in RG?

seems like you answered your own question. You got some gear, changed your mind, sold it and got what you thought would work better. Doesn’t mean that it won’t work better for someone else.

Because kifaru comes out with a a newer better bag every other week and people have ocd and can’t be happy with their current pack.

sort of kidding. I got my fulcrum right when they came out and have no plans of switching it up.

Folks tweaking their setups is the main reason. Also it’s a great way to try different setups without having to pay new price so you see a lot getting bought sold and traded in the classifieds. I’ve used it a bunch myself. Take for instance I wanted to try a 44mag set up but once I got it in hand it was way too big for what I needed.

Yeah, I tend to tweak my gear pretty often, trying to find that perfect set up. I had and used an EMR II for a couple of years, and loved it. That said, it's a bit big for me, space wise, so I'm looking to drop to something a bit smaller. I'm keeping the same frame/belt/ shoulder straps from Kifaru, and all my pouches, Grab-it, etc, just selling the pack. Kifaru is, in my humble opinion, second to none. Most comfortable, durable packs I've ever seen/ used.

they are durable but kifaru as a whole isn’t without its flaws, That durability comes with a weight penalty, some people don’t care but when my stone glacier set up weighs 4+ lbs less than my kifaru setup which one goes on the hard hunts with me? I also found their sleeping bags to be far to bulky for me. I do love my lost park parka and pants, I keep that stuffed in my pack for emergencies and when I need to get really warm.

that being said, while I love my fulcrum and think it’s a great design and love my 28” tactical frame, I just don’t use much kifaru stuff anymore outside of the jacket and pants.

I've only owned a few Kifaru packs and those have been the older stuff. But like many have said, people trying out gear and tweaking it to their preferences. I've cycled through alot of packs to find one that really fits what I'm looking for. Granted this may never happen due to my constant changing likes hahaha. But I've really like Kifaru gear for the durability. You definitely do pay for it in weight though, so there is trade offs.

I have multiple bags and frames and tons of accessories, every time I open my gear closet I think of selling some of the Kifaru stuff I don’t use much. I have a few items I have never used just hanging out. All my stuff has been bought used and some I didn’t need but it was priced so good I jumped on it like scoring a 26” tactical frame for $200 when I already had a 24” tactical and 26” bikini.

people change setups all the time but you have to buy to try in most cases and when people find out what they like they sell off the excess.

I'd like to find a Kifaru G1 or G2 MMR and/or ZXR with XTL lid. And a molle Express. The ones with built in waist belt. Would like to also find some orig D&L side pockets, regular and those skinny mini's.

Bought Zulu, Scout, and the smaller fanny pack late 90's early 2000's. Never thought Patrick would sell the company. Never thought Kif would stop making those old, 'heavy', classic packs.

Patrick didn't sell Kifaru. He retired, mostly from what I've heard. His daughters run it, but Aron is basically the head guy now. Like I said, this is he basic understanding from what I've heard on their podcasts and others. But I really liked their older packs. Just bought an ZXR and really like the size. Looking to add a Zulu to my collection.

I think most people that are selling, are doing so to buy a different bag. Or they have multiple bags and are selling because they prefer one over the other. I definitely wouldn’t assume it’s because they suck...

Kifaru constantly comes out with new and improved models. As an example, I have their EMR II bag. I am seriously considering selling it and buying a Fulcrum. The Fulcrum is very similar but has (what I believe) an improved strapping system. I also have a 24" frame and am considering selling it and getting a longer frame that may perform a tad better when hauling super bulky, hefty loads. It's not to say my EMRII and 24" frames don't perform well but may work a tad better for my particular use.

What's nice about Kifaru is their resale value remains super high. That ought to tell you something about the quality. If a guy is only going on 1 sheep hunt he likely can buy a pack/frame and sell it for almost what he bought if for.
