P&Y Announces World Record Velvet Typical Sitka Blacktail

Not really an issue Roy. I guess looking in the rear view mirror there were some bucks killed in velvet that potentially surpassed the current WR.

The link above was showing that Bob's buck was in fact still in velvet when killed (which I was trying to recall)

Didnt p&y make changes to the way velvet bucks are scored this year?

Scored? No. They have accepted velvet entries for years now and they are measured the exact same way. What changed was the Club now recognizes velvet entries as world records within their own velvet category. They also now are eligible for awards for the recording periods.....same as hard antlered species.

Not sure what you’re referring to. The link you attached shows a totally different category (Sitka Deer-hard antlered). Bob’s buck was stripped and measured, as the Club accepted velvet then, but they were not recognized for world record status in the velvet category......now they are.
Current largest P & Y velvet Sitka exceeds 109 by over 6 inches.

Past buck that exceeded 109 was stripped to be entered in permanent records. Not a fan of changing the rules over time. Likewise, not a fan of recognizing deer that do not honor the animal or the species as promulgated by the club. Transgender deer do not honor the species.
