Me and the wife are taking some time off work come September and we are going to be staying at an extended family members place near Breckenridge, Co. I have been looking at topos and stats for 37 and 371. Anyone have any experience in these units? Just looking to get out in the woods and have a chance at a cow or if lucky a bull. Honestly just looking to get away from work and the everyday hustle, might as well try to bring some meat home. Don't mind driving farther if these two units aren't worth spending time digging into. Thanks

If you have a nice place to stay already...that's half the planning. You will find plenty of elk to hunt within daily driving distance. I hunt surrounding units but never the 2 you listed. Any good tips you can get from a starting point, take off from there and learn as you go. You don't always have to get miles from road, but try to find pockets of hard to reach ground, or pull off to hunt in the middle of the road, not always at the end or in a designated parking area where the majority of others start their hunt from.

All it takes is one elk sighting and you'll be hooked...Have fun!

Pm sent thejones. Thanks bz, yeah it's nice to have a solid free place, key word free to stay. Regardless of what input I get I will still go out somewhere and chase something. It might just be altitude but I'm ok with that.
