Anyone else on here headed up to Oregon? I am in Nor-Cal - headed North 11/2 to meet my family from Oregon.

Any other Intel / Advice in Silvies would be appreciated.

lots of people, and lots of road access. Find the biggest roadless area you can find that is close to the edges where they can roam down to the private land. It is a really big area. For the #2 hunt, if it goes nowhere in a couple days, pack up and move to a another area. Once you learn an area, they will be there year after year. If you get a scouting trip, stop at the BLM office on the west end of town. They are really a great bunch over there. You have to stop and eat at the apple peddler in burns on your way through. it is the law.

Thanks for the response and all of the info ! Will be heading up in Sept for a few days of scouting / recon.

Any recommendations on elk
camp locations? Will have 3 rigs - two trailers one class C.

Really looking forward to the trip, pouring over GE and topo maps like a mad man. Will be sure to follow all laws in the great state of Oregon, and stop by the peddler. Don't want to meet any (more) OSP troopers!

Any other Ca elk hunters heading North to Oregon - sound off, if your interested in joining our party and start building points next year.

I am in Central Valley Ca, usually hunt open season, southern Cascades - Dixon Unit. Drew Silvies 2 this year.
