Opinions on Kryptek

Looking for advice on Kryptek in comparison to the other major manufacturers.

Quality, concealment, versatility etc.

The koldo rain gear has been very durable for me. I have had quite a few other pieces if you have specific ones you’re interested in .

the koldo rain gear has been pretty bombproof for me. the highlander pattern works well here in az. the valhalla series has held up well and is very lightweight and breathable.

Thanks for input everyone. I’m curious mostly about the koldo and how noisy it is, how well it packs, and if it has much warmth?

Just found the vellus jacket, does anybody have experience with it? It looks good

I have the vellus vest and used it through the winter on small game and two snowshoeing trips and really like it. It cuts wind, and dries quickly. Robby has a good review of the vellus system from when it came out -

I have the jacket and pants for sale right now. Pm me if your interested. They are WARM and block wind very well. Haven't had them in a down pour but have kept me 100% dry. I really like the highlander pattern too. That system is meant for cold weather, you could easily just wear a t-shirt and underwear and be plenty warm down in the 20's or teens. If you have other questions about them let me know.

I have Koldo. It’s bombproof. Worn it hard. Have a lot of stuff from them. And an equal amount from Sitka. Kryptek is very good. Cheaper than Sitka but I don’t see any issues with the Kryptek. I love certain pieces. It’s been very durable. And is generally quieter than Sitka. I recommend it.

You’ll see a lot of the Kifarucast videos with Aron Snyder and Frank Peralta with either of them wearing various Kryptek pieces on many mountain heights. They also wear First Lite and Sitka. It’s all good and has its uses.

Appreciate everybody’s input. I am looking to perfect my jacket system for year round hunting.

Archery season I was considering running either the koldo and a merino insulation mid layer or the vellus and maybe a lighter mid layer or maybe no mid?

My concern is how waterproof is the vellus? During the early fall it’s not uncommon for me to encounter a few days of heavy rainfall. Online kryptek claims it to be 100% waterproof, but I have a hard timing believing that considering it’s fleece and breathable.

Would you guys run a rain and mid layer or just vellus? Thanks all!

The Vellus is 100% waterproof as the fleece is glued to a goretex like material. So it has a windproof and waterproof membrane. Vellus is also lined with primaloft. It is warm, waterproof and windproof. The fleece is very quiet and doesn’t pick up a lot of burrs. It is very warm and has armpit vents and a removable hood. It is also very quiet but is very warm.

The liner is the only thing that is "noisy", hard to explain but it only makes noise when you are sitting still and making minor, minor movements. No animal is going to hear it.
Great stand or still hunting set up. Or ice fishing.
The jacket dumps heat well.
As already said many times, it is a true cold weather get up. Very warm.

Kodlo is very durable....packing is ok...

Alaios r awesome....I used the for archery and 2 muleys and 2 antelope....not a problem. Over 4 years....going to have to get a new pair finally this year during black friday sale...I mostly wore fl tops

Cadog stuff....I really use this mostly tree stand hunting here in iowa.or late muzzy in iowa if warm enough....I like them a lot for this situation.....it would have to be pretty cold for me to hike in the cadogs....thought about the dalibor pants as well.
I sold my kratos jacket and got a FL uncp....fl way nicer
