I recently got my FMJ 250 Dangerous Game arrows for a bison hunt. I wanna thank those who recommended these arrows to me. I took your advice. With the 75gr brass inserts, 150gr Woodsman Elite broadheads and other components…they weigh 777grs. I am shooting telephone poles! With a carbon fiber N-Fused core w/ alloy jacket these 17.2gpi arrows are insane! Not at all like the Axis 340s I’m used to shooting. Penetration is impressive in my Rhinehart and Glendel targets and my bow has never been so quiet. Hoping these triple seven sticks prove to be lucky jackpot winners in the field. We’ll see. They sure are pretty……..pretty hefty! I wouldn’t be surprised with a complete pass thru on a buffalo (God willing) with one of these.

777…that has to be an omen right?

Special thanks to Conner @ Archery Outpost (www.archeryoutpost.net) for the prompt arrow building service and assistance with paper tuning. I am all dialed in and now just need to continue practicing with these awesome, hard hitting arrows.

your poor arrow target.

oh, PG&E called. they want their powerline poles back. ;)

Should work pretty well, nice to see more guys realizing the benefits of "heavy" arrows. What draw weight are you shooting if I may ask? Hopefully you get a shot @ the buffalo, please put up some pics when you do!!!! GOOD LUCK

Right on, I've always been a heavier arrow advocate. My lightest arrow setup for deer is still around 510 grains if I remember correctly.

Good luck on the buffalo!

No...once I buy a bow I keep it a long time. My first bow was state-of-the-art when it came out (ages ago...I forget the year). It was the first short ATA bow on the market, a Fred Bear Epic Xtreme. Shot it until 2011 when i got the CE. Still use the ole Bear for bowfishing.

As for the "tag" I only wish that were the case. Utah gives up 44 a year and non-residents have about as much chance of scoring one as hitting the lottery. No...this is a free range ranch hunt guys. Cost a lot more than a tag but after eating bison for 4 years and getting down to my last 50lbs...I got freezers to fill. I don't enjoy eating beef anymore...spoiled I guess. Plus I have the peace of mind knowing there is zero chance of brucellosis. My first bull produced 511lbs of the best eating imaginable. Nothing better than a fire grilled bison roast.

I have no idea. Arranged by a third party who won't tell me. Not a "hunting ranch" but a ranch that raises free range bison and my buddy made special arrangements for me to bow hunt there. Got a much better price than those "canned bison hunting ranches" in other states. Paying 4K for tens days of hunting with my pick of animal. My buddy is coming along to back me up with a rifle (ranch owner demanded this) and assist in dressing. I am told to expect a physical and challenging hunt in the open country. I jumped at it because I was injured in a hit and run that prevented me from taking my elk hunt in Wasatch this August. My buddy set me up with this because he knew how disappointed I was. It's good to have friends.

A lot of places will buy bison from Antelope Island in the fall when they auction extras off. Sounds like your hunt is not one of these canned hunts.

If your hunting in Northern Utah and need an extra hand; I can be had for red meat.

If I go out for a steak I only go one place. Maddox in Perry UT for a bison ribeye. Nothing compares in my book to a bison ribeye.

Hope you heal quickly from the accident.

I agree...those are ribeye steaks I'm cutting in the photo above. I was injured in late July and was able to resume my workouts recently so now it's just a matter of steady effort to get the legs, back and joints back to zero. Nothing Advil, a hot tub and time can't fix. Thanks for the support. Love this site. Some websites tend to attract insanely critical posters. This place is more like a small friendly pub.
