is it me or does it seem to be ludicrous that one can admit to drug use and become president of our country but you cannot get a u.s. coast guard six pack license?

Yes it is according to federal law. I agree with the OP, he is a clown making statements like those. I will not get started on a rant, I will not rant, I will not rant, I will not rant…..all better.

The coast guard is over-the-top strict (not to mention cocky as hell). My friend who's a veteran applied for a position with them. He "used to" take some prescription meds, legally, and they wouldn't even give him a chance. Besides that he's over qualified. Their loss I guess..

Not sure what a six pack license is though..

I know a bunch of guys with 100 ton licenses. I'd be willing to bet that more than half have used a drug at some point in time in their life. A couple I know are open and proud recovering addicts. Former, being the operative word, use does not preclude anyone from getting a captain's license. But anyone who posesses said license must submit to a random piss test when required.

So, while I'm certainly no fan of our president, I'm not sure where you are getting your info. Unless the drug use in question was more current in nature.

Yea, as a six pack license holder, I can tell you that you aren't allowed to test positive for drug use while applying for or holding a valid license--beyond that, I'm not sure that there is a restriction on former use...If there were, most of the AK guides that I've worked with wouldn't be in the guiding business.
