I shot my first match last weekend using a 22" 7 SAW build with a Burris XTR3 3.3-18X50 and kept it on 10-14 power the while time. I'm building a second rifle to use with a lighter barrel in 25 SAW and looking at scope options. I like to keep it with 30mm tube and direct mount rings to bring my weight down. Is the Maven RS 3.2 line worth it over a Nx8 4-32? Closer to that $1500-1700 range is perfect. Running the same stock, bipod and suppressor.

My next scope for NRL will be a Leupold Mark 5, 5x25 with the PR2 reticle. They sometimes pop up used in the $1700-$1800 range.

The mark 5s and 4s are hard to beat. The 4-32Nx8 is pretty solid as well. I run a vortex razor LHT 4.5-22 and like it quite a bit. I have used it for a little over a year now and took it on several hunts with no issues. It went to Idaho, Colorado, and missouri with me hunting last year and never shifted zero

If you can find a used MK5 I would highly recommend it, but I have used an NX8 for lots of NRL comps. Every once in a while you will see the 4-16 and 4-20 ATACR pop up around $2000, I know thats the wrong ring size and more money but its alot of glass for the money.

Yeah i just found a used Maven rs 3.2 5-30x50 for under 1k. And will run it or my 4-20. As i have sig kilo 10k binos and they work great. I never leave 10-12 power. I think the 34mm mark 5 are just too big.

I know its not exactly what you want but after shooting a match the other week. My new scope choice will be the Mark4 Mil moving forward. Locking windage, same glass as the VX5&6, great magnification range and not too heavy.

I will find one and look through it. I believe the Maven rs3.2 glass i have is very close. There's a match this weekend someone will have one.

I am sure you will find one or two. A bunch of guys were using them in the VA shoot.

Ran my crs.3-4-20x50-ffp and lost the turret screw. Called up maven and they sent one out ASAP. Warranty covered it. Now I have ordered a RS4 CFR Mil. The rs3.2 glass imo was as good as a nx8 2.5-20.

Its probably not cool. Not sure how it does on the RS drop test scale.

But my athlon cronus btr 4.5-29 has given me good service, including some pretty good falls while elk hunting. Saw them on closeout for $1300ish.

It definitely hasnt been what held me back at these NRL shoots. But it is a heavy bitch and 34mm.

I did find myself zooming in to just over 20x at the amarillo shoot on some of the harder to see targets.

Amarillo was tough on me just my second match and my buddies first.

It's my first year shooting any sort of NRL or PRS. My 4th NRL. I came in pretty dialed in and "in good form"

Shot an 84 (I'm counting stage 1, because I liked it and shot a 6!)

This shoot really separated the pros
from the Joe's.

At bartlesville I was 20 points back from alwine.

At this I was 60 off of orgain 🤣

It would've been a really tough first match.

Yeah you did really well. We only shot an 80 as a team. Both shooting new rifles with dope loaded from AB quantum. Verified speed on both rifles. Next year we will he more prepared as we plan on all three texas matches for sure.

I'm signed up for clovis. Allegedly that's a good shoot.

Surprisingly this was the first shoot I didn't zero. Very pleased with that.

But I did get complacent after my 12th in bartlesville. This was a good wakeup call. Lots of lessons learned.

Hopefully we get the alleged 6 shoots in Texas next year. And hopefully they are closer to Houston 😆
