NM Unit 21A Archery

Hi,

I drew a second season archery tag in unit 21A in NM. Have never hunted this area before and was hoping someone who has would be nice enough to send me a PM with some general ideas of where to start and tips regarding the unit. Not looking for any honey holes or coordinates, just a general idea of where to begin since I will be traveling from out of state and have only hunted CO in the past. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I tried to draw that hunt as my 2nd choice. Was very interested in the area. Never been, but I hope you have a good hunt! I ended up with my 3rd choice in 51, 2nd archery.

Wanted to try one more time since I did not get any responses. Any general help someone might be able to provide in a PM or references to someone who has hunted this unit before would be greatly appreciated! Not looking for coordinates or anything like that. Just a general idea of what to look for and some general areas to check out.

Bulls are nowhere near qnty of other Gila units and access is not as easy as it appears. The North portion is essentially blocked off.

Never hunted there, but have hunted three times in the Gila. They should be pretty vocal by then. If you're not hearing anything, it's probably time to move spots.

killed a couple of bulls in there and saw 330s pretty regularly with a couple of 350s mixed in. I wouldn't pass a 300 class though. the north end is not blocked off, I don't know what that means, but that's where I have and would hunt.
