NM Public Land Trapping Ban Moves Forward

I emailed them yesterday. Every sportsman should email them and let them know they are against this. They take things from us piece by piece and eventually we'll have nothing left. Here are the emails addresses and my short message I sent them.

Will do. Email barrages worked in Kalifornia for the bear hunting ban, no reason it won't work in NM. Everyone needs to jump on this, residents and non residents alike.

The trapping ban passed late last night by 1 vote. Now off to the governor's desk.

This is just the first step. Divide and conquer, little pieces at a time.
For instance, I believe a NR has to buy a trappers license in order
to hunt furbearers. I doubt a lot of NR's would pay the 300$ to hunt
call a Bobcat. Thats more expensive than a mule deer tag.
I'm just saying, I doubt this bill got a lot of push back from NR's.
It can be used for big game as well. Residents get all giddy when NR
tag numbers go down and the prices go up. But then expect NR support
when something like this happens. I sent emails opposing this for sure,
but do you really think any State Representative gives a phat-phudge what I think? All they're interested in is getting re-elected. How many residents you think would support an increase in NR tag numbers? or a decrease in tag fees that are 5-10x higher than residents pay?
I'm not casting any stones, but just pointing out reality.
The left is playing the game really well. And hunters are not united.
They are playing us against each other.
Unless we start supporting each other, it's over. If it aint already.

When the trapping ban happened in Kalifornia, the governor said something to the effect, "It does not fit with the values of Californians." The legislators pushing the ban also said that the regulations were to expensive to enforce with the small amount of revenue they receive from the small number of trappers still operating within the state. Once again, absolutely nothing to due with wildlife management.

You are 100% correct about not being united, as well as being 100% correct with regards to resident vs NR. It is very much "take care of residents, NR are of no consideration." Until something like this ban happens then residents want "all hands on deck because we're all hunters." When a NR reads things like, "Be grateful you get any NR tags at all," he is probably going to remember that when residents ask for support, and decide accordingly whether he wants to help. Regardless, I am off to urge Governor Grisham to veto the bill.

It is a crock of shit. Hopefully New Mexico can elect some better reps and get this overturned in the next few years.
