So me and my cousin who lives in Victor ID are planning on chasing some black bear up near his home turf this year. Neither of us have any experience bear hunting. I’ve always hunted elk and deer but never bear. We were planning on mid may because that’s all time allows for him. Should snow and access be an issue? Also any ideas on how to spot and stalk bear would be much appreciated.

I can't speak to that area or how this spring is progressing there but if mid May is still green up time looking for slopes that are open with southern exposures would be a good start. Spot and stalk pretty well works the same for all game. Find a vantage point, glass likely habitat, spot a bear (hard to tell from uprooted stumps for the first few), make sure it doesn't have cubs, and then use terrain and wind to close distance and gain a suitable position to shoot from.
