New Zealand Customs & Firearms Times

For those who have been to new zealand a couple of quick questions (Auckland)
1. How long to clear incoming customs w/o firearm. Figure checked bag, will clear and recheck bag for Queensland. Anything special to watch out for? Plan was optics, daypack, rain gear and hunt clothes in carryon. Extra clothes, sticks, jet boil minus fuel in checked.
2. What's the add on in time for carrying firearm sice will have to clear, then recheck it.
3. On the exit leg how much time to add for arrival when checking firearm.

You will pick up your checked baggage at the baggage claim in auckland. Then go to the police desk thats on the left hand side to the customs line. You will show them your paperwork and they will escort you into customs and check everything over. Apply for your firearms permit early! Make sure your boots are either new or cleaned spotless. We went last year and think we had a 6 hr layover. Could have done with 3. After you exit customs you will proceed outside the airport to the domestic terminal. To re check your bags.

Get food at the domestic terminal prior to going through TSA. There isn't much for food after that.

Coming home depends on where your connection is. We flew into LAX. HORRIBLE THERE. We almost missed our flight home with a 5 hr connection because they couldn't figure out our guns were not registered to us. Air new zeeland literally had to escort us through to make our flight.

Put air tags in all baggage. That place is incredible. You will have a great trip. PM with more questions.

Why the new or spotless boots?

That is just there rule. No dirt at all. Could be subject to a big find and spray your boots with chemicals. They inspected ours on arrival
