Get a certified teacher to teach you proper form and avoid years of "fixing".
Certified? Do you mean that in a generic term like when people say "he's a genuine...."

I deal with A LOT of "certified" shooting instructors (although firearms) they lean on that "certification" hard with little actually real world knowledge let alo e the ability to effectively instruct someone.

Alright, I guess I'll specify it as someone that has a certified pedigree as a quality instructor, ie they have positive reviews and are known as an educated instructor. I guess to put it plainly, do your homework. Ask around. Find someone that people trust to know what they are talking about.

What are you planning to hunt? Reason I ask is that practicing for shot scenarios of the given species is helpful. Simply shooting straight line at a broadside target is only going to get you so far. Practicing different elevations and angles will help a lot.

Definitely gonna look into that. Just hard when it’s a good 3 hour drive just to get within a pro shop let alone a good teacher 🙃

Find a 3d shoot close by and get to know the sponsored shooters. A good 3D shoot will also help in judging distance and where to different animals.

It's a super generic post by a brand new member in the general forum, and an emoji to boot.
Definitely not a bot mate. Just trying to get some info as I live in a town that is in the middle of nowhere in Australia but if you don’t wanna contribute feel free to go and Carry on on another thread. Or if you wanna be helpful and maybe point me to a thread that is already like this instead that works too.

To be honest it will probably just be deer and pigs out where I live. That makes a lot of sense man appreciate the tip. Ill definitely do this when I’m practicing.

So a bot is looking for bow hunting info?
I think some people are a bit paranoid. Couldn’t possibly just be a bloke that can’t find anyone within a 4 hour radius to teach or hunt with just looking for some tips and help to make life easier haha

My tip would be to find a good forum and read as much as you can stand to read on there, even before you buy anything. I wish I had done that.

Second tip would be to find a mentor, locally ideal but not a requirement. Maybe an older dude, you earn the wisdom by breaking your back for him.

Thanks. I got a bow from a mate while I learn some fundamentals then I’ll get something of my own a bit later on.
I’ll definitely start trying to find a mentor for sure. Appreciate the advice

In bow hunting angles are difference between short blood trails and not recovering the animal. Slightly turned towards you and slightly angled away can be hard to distinguish from broadside in the heat of the moment.

Don't push your limits, in archery it's easy for things to go sideways don't tip the odds that way from the start.

Aim for where you want the arrow to exit.
