Finally ponied up for some 10x42 Els from cabelas. First question I ordered new and they sent me a display model, does anyone think this is weird and should I ask them for a discount or some credit back or something? The binos appear to be fine but I don’t consider a display model brand new. Second question does it look like anything is missing from the box. This one little box is empty whats supposed to be in there? Oh also the shipping box didn’t have any bubble wrap or anything. 5B7A00EC-D6A9-443B-B6A6-80D144DE8085.jpegAAA45E89-8FEE-4221-9DAB-FDB6FB589374.jpegDF4DED82-1668-4C68-947E-FDC682C89BE9.jpeg

Yes seems weird.
Looks like the objective covers are missing.
Yes I would ask for an exchange or at least 10% of my money back.
It’s got the objective covers. I didn’t think of an exchange that might be the way to go. I’ll have to email them and see what they say.

In that little box are rubber inserts that go on the objectives if you are not using the covers
Oh these tiny things. Lol I thought the box was empty and they were just part of the packing haha.

Is there a green soft case?
Can't remember if my 10s came with that.
Just that canvas bag. I had read before buying them that sometime last year or year before they stopped sending cases with them for environmental reasons.

I bought a pair of Swaro demo EL’s and got several hundred dollar discount from a certified dealer 2 years ago. Full warranty included.

I think you are missing a small brush and bar of soap. At least my new ELs had them.
Won't have access to box until next week but if a pic would be helpful to you I be happy to share.

Not uncommon for stores to only have display models of high end optics. They are expensive and don’t turn very often. Kills the ROI to have two in each store. Asking for a discount would be reasonable.

Doesn’t look like you are missing anything.

Did the binos arrive unharmed? If yes, why does it matter they didn’t bubble wrap it?

Soap and brush are in that other small white box.

I ordered from cabelas website, didn’t think I’d be getting a display model. How much of a discount would you ask for? One guy suggested 10% another said he bought demos for several hundred off.
Also they appear unharmed but I would at least expect some paper stuffed around in the box to help cushion them. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for how expensive they are. I used to box shipments at Rocky Mountain atv right after high school and they did random inspections to make sure people were boxing things correctly, if you tried to ship something like that you’d get chewed out.

Online orders at Cabelas pull from stores unless they have them in a warehouse. They were a set sitting in the case at one of their stores, you ordered them, the store boxes them up and shipped them. I would ask for 10-15%. They probably wouldn’t go for much more, especially not 30%. They wouldn’t make any money on them at 30%.

I wouldn’t ask for a brand new model for two reasons. One, save yourself money for a pair that has only been held and looked through. It’s not like they have been bouncing around in someone’s harness for a year before you got them. Two, they probably don’t have a brand new pair. If you throw a fit about it they will say ok send them back, we will get you a new pair. They will just take the display box sticker off the next set they send you. Be honest, the only reason you know they are displays is because of that sticker.

If they got to you, there is no need to bubble wrap them and your worrying about should of, could of and would ofs.
