I have both and the down is warmer but I obviously haven’t been able to hunt a rifle season or anything with it so all I can say is it is noticeable in the conditions I have put it in. Also the sleeve and cuff comfort is way better with the down. Overall fit of the down jacket is superior. I needed to go xlt in the KLH for sleeve length and torso length but the xl in KLDJ is awesome. I’m 6’ 200# with a 30.5” draw. I’m glad I have both for early and late seasons as they are different tools for different conditions.
I have not been able to try to Kelvin Lite Down Hoody yet, but everyone I've talked to said the fit is better than the Kelvin Lite Hoody. I hope so, I really like the KLH but the forearms are SO tight, its hard to wear over anything. The new Down Hoody seems to be a better cut to accomodate some light layers
I have the KLH and had to size up from L to XL because the KLH armpits seemed so tight. I went with the L for the new KLD based on all of the written and video reviews calling the fit improved. I still think even on the new KLD fit, it is still tight under the armpits.
I am 6’ 180#. The XL KLH is the only piece of XL clothing in my whole house. Since both of these pieces bother me under the armpits, I am convinced the problem is me.
Going to keep the L on the KLD and see how it wears when I have hunting tops underneath it. Real cool jacket regardless... forearms less restricting, nicer cuffs, no bungee cord lock behind the head. Noticeably noisier than the KLH tho.
