Just mounted up my c-more on my shotgun for my kids to use. It's a great sight, but I move it over from my pistol every year and I'd like to get one dedicated for this Shotgun.

What's everyone currently using?

I picked a second hand Aimpoint Micro S-1 last year for relatively cheap, and though I’ve owned and used Aimpoint Micros for many years, I’d never heard of the S-1. It’s made specifically for a shotgun rib, and I love it. It sits low and fits my eye really well.

I’ve used Fast Fire 3 and Vortex Venom. I prefer the Vortex over the ff3. I also prefer my red dots as close to me on the receiver. It’s handier for me to operate while set up on a bird and the view is better for me.

I have a couple FastFire III. I dropped one one on a rock and crunched the lens. Killed a half dozen before I got around to sending it in for replacement. It held zero.

I'd like a Delta point triangle, but they don't make them anymore. RMR seems about the best, but having severe astigmatism, I see two dots.

I am really looking this new one.
I’m leery of the auto 10 minute shutoff….too much to go wrong at an inopportune time. Besides batteries are cheap and will last at minimum a whole hunting season.

It comes on very easy. It would be harder to to find a time when you look to see if its off and it not being on than ever being off. Now, I have only had a youth hunter shoot a bird with it and me. So still new and not lots of use yet. I had a razor red dot on the gun and I do like the lower mount, auto on, choice of reticles better

Ive used a hawke IR shotgun lpvo scope and a tru glo gobble stopper the last 3 years. Im not sold on either tho both have there good points. Im still looking for the perfect thing. Id kill to have a prism with etched glass that sits as low as a red dot.
Im leaning towards trying a holusun 507 or vortex razor. I also prefer green to red for what its worth.

I just mounted a Sig Romeo 5 on a Mossberg 835. While I don't have more than a box of shells through the combination, I like the way it handled. In the past I have used the Romeo 5 on a bear hunt and was pleased with it's performance. It has a 2MOA dot which I like for close range shooting, and you can't beat the price.

Did anyone do their own receiver mount? It would move the red dot closer to my eye than the current rib mount. Thoughts?

I went with a Williams Reflex for turkey hunting. Check them out. I don't think you can find one that keeps your cheek weld on a shotgun feel anymore natural. I like mine so much, I bought another for a .410 turkey gun build.

I’ve used the Burris Fastfire base(works for the ff3 and Venom) with no issues. Lately, I’ve been using the base that Sumtoy makes. They’re both great bases.

Distance to eye seems irrelevant to me. You don't aim through a dot sight. You look at what you want to hit and put the dot over it. My two main turkey guns account for both positions. I much prefer on the rib but I'm not going to the trouble to move the one that's not.

Some people argue the zero of the barrel will wander in relation to the receiver if you mount the sight on the receiver. It does, that's why cantilevers exist, but it'd have to be an extraordinary example to miss a turkey completely with a shot pattern. Depends on how particular you are, I guess.

The Aimtech Rib Rider is cheap and works. I did a back up gun with that and a Bushnell TRS25. It held up to 2oz loads just fine. I never hunted with it. It just rode around half the country in a gun case.

This year I used a Vortex Venom with a Meadow Creek rib mount. It worked really well for me.
