New Mexico Unit 51 Archery Elk

I'm considering buying a landowner tag for this unit if I don't get drawn this year. I'm not looking for anyone's spot just a general idea of some area's to do some scouting in later this summer. Thanks for any help.

Not a unit I'm familiar with...You should be up to your eyeballs in elk if you spend some time and move if you have to. my buddy shot a cow up there a few years ago.
Call the Forest Service about closures. Not sure if this is ongoing: Canjilon Lakes, campground close | Albuquerque Journal

This is possibly my plan as well. I put in for 21a 36 and 51 in the outfitter draw. If i dont draw im either gonna go OTC Colorado or buy a LO tag in 51
