Has anyone handled the new version that is supposed to be quieter and a standard rather than performance fit?

I was struggling to find the differences, except it comes in orange. Glad I picked an extra one up on sale if they did in fact go to a standard fit.

I’m the opposite of they went to a quieter material and a looser fit. I’m in for sure. Would be awesome for back country whitetail bow hunting

I've just never found a use for a soft shell in my system. Weight and packability are not good. They do a few things good, but nothing great. That's just how they seem for ME.

I’m still wearing a very first year jetstream, it’s more than a decade old at this point I’m sure with no real signs of wear or falling apart.

I have tried several times to like a soft shell but never have. This is the first one I’ve considered and it seems like it would work for me at least

I was hoping the “new” version would come in lighter- 26 oz isn’t nearly light enough to make it into my pack.

Put a hood on the Mountain jacket (11 oz) and I’d bite :D
I tried one on last night and it seems bulky to me. I am thinking why not go with the Dew Point better as a wind/moisture shell. Glad I did not order one. I think the KUIU AXIS Hybrid is a more fitted jacket and slightly lighter.

I like my jetstream but like many others I struggle with the concept. Too warm for heavy activity and not warm enough for really cold temps. I take it for short and mid distance but it gets left behind on multi day trips when weight really counts.

I would prefer a non insulated version like the mountain jacket with a roomier cut to allow layering underneath. After holding my breath for Sitka to put a hood on the mountain jacket, I am going to try out an OR shell this fall and see if I like it better. If it works, I will still use my jetstream but for a narrower role.

My best use case for the jetstream is coyote hunting. I have one sized up, I can layer heavily under it, block the wind, vent when moving, I’m wearing it all day in extreme (WI) cold. Potentially returning to the truck during the day. Also have one for day to day.
