Recently discovered the forum. Appreciate the insight from so many hunters both experienced and inexperienced. Turkey, Dove, and whitetail deer hunter most of my life. First elk hunt scheduled for November in Colorado, Hope to be able to make a contribution to the forum.

Thanks for welcoming me to the forum. I live in Marietta (Atlanta area) but spend much of my time in middle Georgia - Wilkinson county where my wife and I have some property. Trying to mange the deer and turkey populations while fighting the good fight (with little success) against the wild hogs that have nearly taken over. Again thanks for the welcome.

Passed through Jasper a couple of weeks back on my way to Young Harris.

They did not. Remarked how much different it looked in person compared to google maps. One guy joked that his brother was huffing and puffing one morning and asked how far they’d gone, he turned around and pointed out the truck, about 300 yards down the hill.

Sorry about the double reply - still learning the mechanics. I am working hard to get in shape but recognize I can't replicate the altitude. I am hunting with a guide on this first hunt. Thought I could learn from him for DIY hunts in the future

Good plan. Still a technique I employ to learn sections of river.

Welcome - I am in Marietta but spend much of my time in Wilkinson county. Our place is 3 miles north of the little town of McIntyre - on Hwy 441. About 10 miles south of Milledgeville. Planning to head to Colorado in November for elk hunt - all new to me. Seems like a lot of good information on the forum. I'm just trying to keep this Georgia boy from freezing to death.
