Thought I'd introduce myself. New guy here from Southern California, I primarily bow-hunt as of last year, got my first mule deer with a bow last year, a decent high country buck way back in the Sierra. I tend more towards backpack/backcountry hunts, finding out of the way places to avoid the crowds here in our local mountains in southern california but my real focus is getting into the high country of the Sierra. I have a lot of experience backpacking and rock climbing, applying all that to hunting has been a no-brainer. I also hunt upland and waterfowl. I'm pretty focused this year on getting my first bear, hopefully with a bow but I have no reservations about stepping up the firepower later this season.
Looking forward to contributing to the forums here, especially to hear from other guys similarly afflicted as I am being stuck in California and still making it work to get in some quality hunting. There's some to be had in this state for sure but I'm hoping to start playing the out-of-state game soon.
