Hey Roksliders, this may be discussed elsewhere on Rokslide but wanted to get the official press release up:

Same Science, New Pattern: First Lite Unveils New Cipher Camouflage
Pattern

Dallas, Texas (Jan 5, 2017) – First Lite Performance Hunting debuted its
new Cipher camouflage pattern at the Dallas Safari Club Convention,
unveiling their highly anticipated addition to the technical apparel
brand’s arsenal of camouflage and solid color options. Utilizing the
nature based algorithms that have propelled Fusion to popularity, Cipher
incorporates the scientific backbone of Fusion into a lighter color palette
for hunters who understand Fusion’s effectiveness but simply want an option
with lighter colors and tones.

First Lite’s popular Fusion pattern was launched in September of 2015 and
instantly became a success, due to the pattern’s ability to provide a sense
of depth almost anywhere in the field and in part to its visual appeal.
The DNA of the First Lite family of patterns is derived from the Golden
Ratio, otherwise known as the reoccurrence of particular shapes and colors
found throughout the natural world. By adhering to this nature-based
algorithm and incorporating the perfect ratio of light and dark colors,
Fusion and Cipher promote the negative space created by large and
small-scale breakup instead of the blob effect found in most patterns.

“We see Cipher as the best possible compliment to one of the most effective
patterns on the market in Fusion,” said First Lite founder and co-CEO
Kenton Carruth. “The key is our patterns’ ability to work at any
distance—‘color blobbing’ has always been the biggest hurtle in traditional
camouflage patterns. Most patterns appear as a dark blob of color outside
of ten yards. Cipher and Fusion incorporate enough visually disruptive
qualities to give both the bow hunter and rifle hunter an advantage at
close and long range. We wanted to give the hunter a choice of proven,
highly effective patterns and we feel we’ve achieved that by offering
Fusion, ASAT and now Cipher.”

Cipher will be available throughout the First Lite product line beginning
with existing product late February of 2017. New 2017 styles will be
available in Cipher, Fusion and solid color options late spring.

Where can we go to see some pics of the pattern? I was about to order a full first lite suit but I may wait a bit now.

Awaldro, aren't you able to see the photo in the post?

I like it. I pretty much have the entire First Lite lineup in ASAT, but this new pattern really does appeal to me. To bad First Lite does not have a trade-in program. My wife knows how much I spent on my gear and she would kill me if I sold any of it for less than I paid.

At first glance I thought it looks very similar to Cabela's Octane pattern. Maybe just a bit more brown with different shapes. I like it a lot more than fusion, I don't think the animals care, but I just find fusion ugly. My hunting gear is already a mishmash of about 10 different patterns and some solids, so I might as well add another to the mix.

I guess I'm under whelmed by this new pattern. I'll stick to the original fusion as I think it provides more contrast which increases the effectiveness. This new pattern would work in very limited environments. Personally I can't remember anywhere I've hunted from Alaska to Mexico that didn't have something green in the flora. I'm more excited about some of the new components they're bringing out. Specifically the Sawtooth jacket. That's one that's been long overdue for their line.

Looks like I'm gonna have to spend more $ I'll use my Fusion for my summer alpine mule deer hunts and the Cipher for my late season desert mule deer hunts

I don't think the guys are going to get rid their Fusion for two reasons. It looks like it will go well with Cipher and it's better 😆

From that release it seems like the new pieces won't be available in ASAT. Just makes the outerwear switch to Sitka subalpine that much easier. FL is a great company, but some of their moves regarding ASAT are just head scratchers.

I love first lite as a company and no doubt they make great gear but I dislike all the patterns offered currently. I bought everything I could in max 1 before it was gone and a few of the new pieces that I had to have are solid brown.
I believe asat, fusion and the new cipher are extremely effective as camouflage but I must have a vanity problem because I can't bring myself to like it.
Too bad because I'm ready to upgrade my wife's clothing system. Might have to go with Sitka subalpine.
