New boot recommendations, not too stiff

Super light boots aren’t durable and won’t hold their waterproofing for long. My feet have been very wet from nothing more than morning dew in mountain meadows which is why I made the switch to a leather boot that has a waterproof membrane, but also is waterproof from leather waterproofing treatment. I love Salomon boots for warm weather though!

Good point, I do love that about the leather boot. When I'm backpacking and fly fishing, I'm almost always in trail runners so not sure why that wouldn't also work out for hot hunts. Appreciate your insight!

Hmmm, now I'm thinking maybe just something super light. I hunt in central New Mexico mostly and during Muzzleloader seasons (late October), so I never really have to worry about it being super cold and I run hot anyway. When I am hunting when it's cold (quail), I'm usually walking the entire time anyway. Or maybe I'll just get another pair of Pronghorns. They fit my feet perfectly and have performed for me, so why overthink?

If you don't need goretex, I just used for the first time, Danner Expeditionary warm weather boot. They were great this week in Sonora chasing turkeys. I also run hot, and my goretex lined boots are HOT on warm weather hunts.

Do they fit similarly?

For me they did. They have a flex rating of 2. Where as most your leather hunting boots are 3 to 4. Closest thing ive found in comfort level to a pronghorn, yet has all the durability.

I like my crispy guides, I have the uninsulated ones and they are probably the most comfortable boots I have.

That's what I ended up doing because I know I can exchange/return them if they don't work out, since REI has such a great return policy. Also got a pair of Keen Hightrail vented hiking shoes for wet wading and backpacking which were already on sale so I got both those for just a little more than the price of the boots.
