Searched but couldn't find much here. For one of my hunts this fall I am thinking about taking my AR10 in .308 as my primary rifle. Still has the factory trigger which is garbage and probably affects accuracy. Can anyone recommend a good trigger to replace the factory one?

I see Timney makes a drop in trigger and I have been super impressed with their triggers on several of my other bolt rifles. Anyone have experience with Timney triggers on an AR platform?

TIA

No single stage AR trigger can match the reliability, durability, and safety of a properly done two stage trigger.

The Geissele two stages (SSA or SSA-E in this case) and the Larue MBR trigger are the best favor one can do.

I have a timney in one of mine and I put a triggertech in another. I think I like the Triggertech better, but they are both pretty damn nice.

AR15 Trigger Comparison - Geissele, CMC, Triggertech, Timney - YouTube

I found this video of 4 triggers. I didn’t realize I had a 2 stage in it now, and that’s what I don’t like, I want one that shoots like my bolt gun, 1 crisp break, little or no movement. This shows some different triggers, their movements etc.

If if you want a single stage, you want a single stage. However, and while it may not effect you- single stage, light and crisp AR triggers are less reliable and suffer more mechanical issues, including AD’s than light and crisp two stage triggers.

Two stage Geissele triggers are quite literally the best triggers available and are far from “garbage”. What AR10 do you have, and what two stage trigger is in it?

My Gun is a ar15, mega lower, varminter 1-7 upper, long, fluted heavy barrel, I use it like a bolt action bench rest gun. I really don’t even like AR’s, but I traded for one, so I plink with it, I just hate take up. I don’t know what trigger, I haven’t taken it apart. I’ve been trying to trade it for a bolt action for awhile, but after 16 billion of them sold in 8 years, the market is soft, so I figured if I put a crisp trigger maybe I would like it better.

My hunting rifles have 16-24 oz crisp triggers, so when I grab even a 2lb take up, then 3-4 lb fire, I don’t like it.

I run Geissele SSA and SSA-E in all my ARs and I have many thousands of rounds with these. They are very "good to go" I just put one in a 6.5 CM AR10 I built with good results.

What AR10 do you have, and what two stage trigger is in it?

I have a Stag Arms Stag 10s in .308. The specs just say single stag milspec trigger and I have not taken it apart yet to see if I’d made in house by Stag or if it is third party. Regardless a lighter two stage trigger would be a vast improvement.

I have a Timney single stage in an AR - its a far cry from a timney bolt action trigger.

I'll be getting a geiselle 2 stage next time I buy an AR trigger. You can get them pretty light and still reliable.
