I have been a member here a while but I have never posted, I just troll the search and read what I can, but I digress. A friend and I are considering Neveda for some archery mule deer hunting. Main question first and then I will go from there.

1) Does Neveda have any units that you can draw without applying for years? Again not looking for a trophy hunt, just a unit with some muleys to chase.

I have researched the draw statics but there is so much contradicting information, or thats how I interpret it anyways.

The Rubies have had left over tags to purchase the last three years running. A good unit for scenery and lots of bucks.

Rosin, do you mean for the leftover draw or leftover after the draws? I know if you draw a tag in the leftover draw you lose your points. If there are still leftovers can you get them without losing points?

Left overs after the 2nd draw...you use to lose your points even buying those tags, because they are considered draw tags. I believe they are going away from that and if you buy a left over tag after the second draw you will now keep your points. Drhorsepower will know for certain, but that is what I remember.

I would agree. Many people not willing to burn their points on many of the zones, but if they don't have to, they will all be sold.

I would be surprised if there would be tags left after the leftover draw. The only reason I have not put in for the leftover draw is to keep my points. I already have the license so it would be nice to get to hunt.

I would be one of those guys as well. I would love a tag without burning points so I would put in. I'm sure I would get to know the rubies well over time that way like Ed mentioned.

I don't know how the commission is going to respond, if you lose points after the drawing on the second draw or if you lose points on any leftover tag after that or leave it the way it is.
