Hey all,

Just bought a used Satori 21 riser. Need limbs and a string. I am 6'3 and 30.5in draw with compounds.

Before anyone goes off on a coach or weight tangent, I got it. I'll get a coach. I am looking at starting at 25-30lb limbs.

Now, should I get mediums? longs? extra longs? How does the length of the limb relate to the draw cycle/stability?

Thanks.

Get a coach, start with 30lbs 😁

I shoot a 64" bow at 30" dl. I like the feel on the fingers, no pinch, no release issues related to string angle. L or XL will give you a 66 or 68" bow, either should work well. I'm new to a single string also so take that fwiw.

25-30 sounds like you're going to work on form. The longer the limb, the more forgiving....at the cost of space constraints. If you're shooting indoor, can you shoot longs without issue? If so....that's where I would head.

I found Jake Kaminsky and Clay Hayes very helpful. Both have tons of YouTube content. I recently had some one on one instruction as well, also extremely helpful as expected.

I’m your same height. I wouldn’t go shorter than a 64” bow if I were you. I started at 40lb, 66” bow and it was perfect. 40lb at my draw that is. I actually have longer DL with trad then my compound…so give yourself a little room there. I shot a 62” bow for hunting last year and didnt like the string pinch/feel I was getting with it with 3 under shooting.

Before you get a string you need to measure your bow unstrung from tip to tip, take that measurement and subtract 4” and that should give you your string length. Same with a longbow but subtract 3”.

Once you figure out what length limbs you are going to go with, get ahold of any reputable string maker, rmsgear etc and tell them your bow length and they will know what string to go with. Once you get your first string all dialed in for brace height, take it off, put one end over a nail or the like (small diameter), stretch it tight and measure it, that is what you call Actual String Length(ASL) and is how you will order your next custom string, which you should go ahead and do at that time, put the first string away and make it your backup! If something happens to your string, you can throw the backup on and you are dialed in already! I had a 21" satori for a very short time, think I had medium for a 66"bow and it was very comfortable for my 31"draw. I don't think I would go shorter than medium on the limbs, shorts would give you a 64" bow which theoretically work for your draw length, it might not be real smooth but that's just a guess.

I have some galaxy silver star limbs that are solid to start with 30 @25 I believe. Pretty sure they're mediums but I'd have to check the sticker.

They stack a little bit at the top of the draw but they're reasonably quiet and quick for the price and weight. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions or want to take them off my hands.
