I bought a rifle off of a Rokslider and this is how it showed up to the FFL on Saturday. He took the rifle apart, boxed it up and shipped it with no insurance.
He said it’s my fault because I didn’t ask about insurance and USPS for the rough handling. None of its his fault.
I’m going to look it over tomorrow to see how bad it is. Would keep it or send it back? I’m sure it will be a fight to get my money back after talking with the guy.

That is just poor packaging! Common sense would be to pad/wrap the barrel tip and other "pointy" objects so this doesn't happen.
I have shipped many guns and recieved many through shipping, with zero damage.
I would be livid! Any half-witted seller would know to :#1- Insure the package
#2: - Wrap the barrel ends.
I swould definitly try to get a refund. I hope it wasn't expensive.
I double box all firearms and bows to prevent this.

I have shipped dozens of Firearms to buyers without problems except one about 8 months ago. I had insurance on it but rather than getting it back and filing something with the USPS I offered the guy $200 back on a $800.00 transaction and he was fine with it. Good luck with the seller!

That is some poor packaging, pure and simple. Even insured, USPS may deny a claim due to the inadequate packing. Good luck.

If the seller is unwilling to work with you then I hope you used PayPal. I’d file a claim with PayPal. IMHO poor packaging and should be the sellers responsibility to insure. You as the buyer shouldn’t assume any responsibility in this as it has never been in your possession.

Im not sure paypal will help out since they do not allow anyone to purchase firearms with paypal. I bought one gun and was nervous because of that, but the transaction was very smooth and the seller did a great job. I hope it works out for the OP.

I was not aware of that rule. Thanks for the info on that. I’m now interested to see how it works out as well.

I’ll be interested to see how this shakes out with PayPal. If they find out it was a firearms related purchase then I doubt there is any buyer protection since it’s a direct breach of their policy. They may suspend both of your accounts. I would proceed with caution and try to work it out without involving them.

If you don't get a good result be sure to let us all know who the Rokslider is so that none of the rest of us have to get snookered by such a poor performance.
I surely will let y’all know. Not something I’m looking forward to, hopefully it works out.

Gun stuff on PayPal is a no go. I got a warning once for selling gun parts on gunbroker because it made mention of the product in the PayPal receipt. When I sold something else a little while later, I noted in my gunbroker post that I would accept PP, however it would have to be discrete. I got an email from PP shortly after saying my PP account was permanently locked. When I inquired why, they sent me a screenshot of my second gunbroker listing, so they decided to watch my gunbroker account after the first incident.

As far as the gun, that's some piss poor packaging. Good luck working with the seller, if he doesn't work with you, come back on here and put him on blast.

I keep one factory box Weatherby sent me on hand for stuff like this.

If I were selling a pretty sporter rifle with a wood stock, it would at least go in a cheap Plano hard case.

Being that looks like a bull barrel gun and the crown itself doesn’t look damaged, I’d just have it threaded for a brake or can. I’d send the seller pics and ask if they’d like the cover the cost of it, if not I’d make it known on here as a warning to others and move on.

It’s a standard barrel 7mag. Don’t care for breaks. I don’t think the crown is damaged, more worried about the rest of the gun.
Also, if I keep it and find out later that there’s a slight bend in the barrel, I’m screwed.
The gentleman told me flat out that none of it was his fault. Going to be an uphill battle.

For those quick to condemn, I would say you haven't seen the entire packaging and usps sucks. But I would file with PayPal if you think the is rifle damaged somehow. If it was just cosmetic (who knows until you actually look it over), I'd probably just deal with the cosmetic and live/learn (demand insurance coverage)

Bummer. I'm terrified when I sell a bow or anything that can be easily damaged in transit, last thing I want is an unhappy buyer. Personally, I'd have bought a cheapo soft case at Walmart to pack it in inside the box.

The seller needs to make it right. It was his responsibility to make sure the rifle was packaged sufficiently. You have the right to be pissed about it and I would be too. I always insure anything I ship just in case something was to come up. Its part of being a responsible seller. I value my word too much to lose a good reputation over piss poor packaging on my part. Seller needs to step up and do the right thing and either offer your money back in return for shipping the rifle back to him or he should pay to have the barrel cut and recrowned IMHO
