I have a pair of boots that could use more arch support. I tried to use the Powersteps I normally use and they are too thick. So which insoles will give me some arch support without taking up too much room?

I think you're going to have to use one with a heel cup/arch profile only, ie., back half insert only. I don't think powersteps makes one like that although I really like their insoles. The one I use is http://www.wyfield.com/product.html . Works great in boots, running shoes, (you wear it with stock insoles or similar) or by itself in dress shoes. Not padded, but makes your foot work like it was designed to.

There is a pair of green super feet in the classifieds, fairly low volume with good arch support

I have very flat feet and low volume too have been thru a fortune in insoles. The standard super feet blue is aimed at low volume and arch. They are rigid from the arch back to the heel and have a secure deep heel cup. They work for me in boots with little room and not super supportive, ie like my danners. The did not work in my kenetreks however, the rigid bottom just didn't conform well. Super feet also has a custom mold-able insole (retailer only). They are in between the blue and lime green style in volume and are forest green in color. They heat up the parts, assemble and hold to bottom of your foot until they are custom to your foot. On my only elk hunt averaged 8-10 miles a day and I have never been able to that without real discomfort before.
